Being October aka Breast Cancer Awareness month the club has decided its a good time to dress in Pink in the name of a good cause.
At the meeting we had representives from other local Rotaract Clubs (South West Rotaract Club, Strathpine and Narina from Rotaract Club of Sydney City. Our District Gov. (DG) Errol Wildman gave a very interesting speach on Rotary, some of the things he touched on were, the Rotary Polio Plus campain what his role as DG is, our District Conference and much more. also on the Guest List making a splash was Mary-Joe from the Marter Hospital giving us more information on Breast cancer and the Mater’s “Chick in Pink” Fundraising Program. Errols Sister also attended and she is a Breast cancer surviver, and a Program leader at YWCA Encore. it is an exercise program designed specifically for women who have experienced mastectomy, lumpectomy or breast reconstruction surgery at any time in their lives. Based around floor and pool exercises and relaxation techniques, it is safe, fun and therapeutic. The water resistance exercises are gentle but effective, and the warm water relaxes and relieves affected muscles. Encore can help recoverers strengthen and tone there arms, shoulders and chest, regain mobility, and improve there general fitness. her story was very interesting.
